BYOU+ SUPPORT & ENGAGEMENT FOR
LGBTQ+ PEOPLE IN THE WIGAN BOROUGH
OF WIGAN PRIDE
BYOU+ is an LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Questioning/Queer* and other sexualities & gender identities) community organisation based in the Wigan Borough. BYOU+ launched in 2016 with the support of Wigan Council's "The Deal". Our aim is to provide an array of services in relation to LGBTQ+.
BYOU+ is also project leaders of Wigan Pride.
WHY ARE WE CALLED BYOU+?
The organisation was set up by Zak Bretherton & Scott Williams (Zak's former youth worker) in 2015 whilst working on BYOU - Wigan Council's 13-19 year old LGBT youth group. Zak was inspired to create a provision in the borough for those who are LGBTQ+ and over the age of 18. Zak wanted to pay homage to the LGBT group he used to attend as well as provide a obvious link to the group, therefore the name BYOU+ was decided upon. BYOU+ is pronounced Be-You-Plus.
